From the crescent beaches of Harris Beach State Park to the rugged coastline of Pacific City, Oregon boasts some uniquely exhilarating surf spots that marry the thrill of the ride with captivating scenery.
1. Oswald West State Park: Short Sand Beach
Just ten miles south of Cannon Beach, Oswald West State Park’s Short Sand Beach offers consistent, mellow breaks for the beginner surfer. Short Sands, or “Shorties” as the locals call it, is nestled in a thick forest, giving it a hidden cove feel. Plus, with Smuggler’s Cove Trail winding around the area, there’s plenty for your non-surfing companions to explore. Remember to respect the local surfing etiquette when sharing the line-up.2. Nehalem Bay: Jetty Fishery
Nehalem Bay offers a surreal surfing experience, especially at sunset. Jetty Fishery is an incredible spot that doesn’t get too crowded. With the right swell, the waves can get quite good.
